Great system

Great system, easy to understand the instructions. Running on solar panels takes away from my energy bill drastically. Very happy to get this unit.

Amazing Product, heats and cools

We already have solar on our house, be we wanted to supplement the existing solar with a smaller unit that can heat and cool. The supplied kit was shipped quickly and very well packaged. It took a couple of days to install the indoor and outdoor unit and add the four solar panels to out roof. As long as you have a reasonable amount of DIY experience, it's pretty straight forward. Just follow the supplied install instructions. As of today's review date of 2/18/2025, the unit heats and cools even on partly sunny days. The installed panels face directly East, and the solar panels will fully power the in-door unit and outdoor mini-split from about 8.30am all the way through to 3.30pm with zero grid power needed. The system I installed, uses both the solar input and AC grid power, but we restrict the unit to use the solar as much as possible. Running off the four solar panels, in heating mode will get the vent air temperature to around 115-120F in a very short period of time and will warm the house over a couple of hour or so (this is amazing that it's completely powered from the solar panels). In the instructions, the unit can be controlled from the app called Solar Aircon. Quick tip here, DO NOT USE the Solar Aircon App, it is much better to download and use an App called SMART LIFE, since the Solar Aircon app kept dropping the connection to the EG4 indoor unit. You can also link the SMART LIFE app to Alexa so you can schedule the unit to come on/go off at conveinient times and allso set the desired temperature from voice commands. Overall, this system is fantastic to supplement your existing heating an cooling system. We are using this unit to heat and cool our main living room and kitchen areas. Our house is 2200 sq ft and single story, so this unit isn't going to heat and cool the whole house, but it does a fantastic job of heating and cooling the living room and kitchen area (which is exactly what we wanted it to do). Signature Solar is a really great company to deal with, they did forget to include a part for the roof installation, but a quick message to them and they shipped out the missing part in a few days. I would highly recommend Signature Solar as a company to do business with. Overall, it was a pleasure to do business with them, if your'e looking to supplement your existing heating and cooling without breaking the bank and power the unit off solar, then you won't regret getting this kit. Well done Signature Solar, great job!!!

Ran 24/7 all summer

I set up 1000 watts of panels that go directly into the unit. I only have another 900 watts going into 800 ah of battery and this unit ran AC 24/7 all summer. I can't run the heater 24/7 with my small battery bank but I'm about to triple the bank and then it may. Absolutely one of the best pieces of tech on my homestead.

Hybrid Mini-Split: 9 Month Use Review

We bought this 12000btu hybrid Mini-Split for use in a small (< 200sqft) Support Building on our wintering RV lot down in Arizona. We really bought it to be able to keep the temperature of our building at 80 degree F while we were gone in the Summetime with the extreme heat in the desert. The hybrid function was needed because in June and July the overnight temps can remain very high - even in the dark. It took myself and my two adult sons about two-three hours to get it installed. We didn’t have time to roof mount our panels before we left for the season so we ground-deployed four SunPower 435watt panels to power this unit. Given our square footage and the amount of power this thing draws, 1740watts of solar seemed overkill to me. But apparently we needed to meet the voltage and amperage minimums and maximums to keep the PV array in specs with the EG4 unit. It would sure be nice to be able to leverage those four panels into a separate MPPT solar controller while still using them for the dedicated Controller inside the EG4 MiniSplit. Perhaps putting a static transfer switch for the PV array to allow me to place them in service only for the HVAC in the Summertime - and flop them over to a general purpose off-grid solar inverter during Winter when we’re onsite would be a good compromise. (Since not much other power is being consumed in the Summer when our lot is “mothballed” awaiting our return in the Fall). We have grid service from our local power company and being able to remotely check our unit from the road with our smart phones AND to be able to monitor our power usage with the utility - we saw that this unit hardly EVER used more than 700-800watts on grid power (and that was running the heat pump)…in cool mode I saw it typically using between 200-350watts! Amazing. Our power bill was typically between $22 and $28 a month to keep this small building at 78degrees F around the clock. A future offgrid inverter might satisfy the remaining power bill once installed so we may be truly getting a very quick payback on this unit! As far as reliability goes (knocking on wood here for good luck) the unit seems very dependable. With a five year warranty - we hope we get well beyond those years of use with it. We’re considering another similar deployment on our lot for another small storage building and maybe a third to replace two roof mounted “RV Jet Engines” HVAC ACs in a guest park trailer. We shall see! Overall, if build quality at EG4 remains good, I’d recommend this unit as an effective way to keep climate control in small buildings and She/He-Sheds...
