***If you've purchased an EG4 18kPV Inverter through Signature Solar, be sure to use the customer code 'Signature' when setting up the monitoring system!

Systems with more batteries than these configurations are still possible (Such as the 5:1 configuration pictured above). But, require the use of an external fused positive busbar and an unfused negative busbar rated at a minimum of 200A per battery. Each fuse should be a maximum of 250A. Alternatively, larger systems could rely on the 18kPV’s ability to draw from different battery packs while still paralleling inverters rather than utilizing external busbars.

Wouldn’t try it without one

Made job much easier. Would not be confident, mounting it on the wall without one.

18Kpv and PowerPro wallmount batteries

Setting up the inverter with the batteries was a breeze as far as communication. The manual says the batteries should be fully charged before putting them in parallel, which would have been nice to know before mounting them, as the communication cables are not long enough to get from any battery except the one directly under the inverter. The setup from the web portal is pretty good, although not always intuitive. Don't reset the inverters....or you have to set them up from scratch again. A warning would have been nice. Seems to work well, except the CTs which were installed correctly, required me to set the reversed flag, which I think is a programming error. While the batteries were charging from the grid, the inverter said I was exporting, which was impossible, because the load breaker was turned off. I set the reverse flag on the CTs and it then said I was consuming power. Pretty nice features on the device, no real problems so far.

Great system

Purchased this kit (18KPV, single 14.3kWh battery, and conduit) along with a pack of solar panels and mounting racks. Installed it as as a whole-home backup, plus using the battery instead of grid during high-cost hours. I am familiar with house wiring, but this was my first solar/battery project. Commissioned it all about 2 weeks ago, and honestly it was much easier than expected. The hardest part was getting it all mounted - these things are HEAVY. Instructions were clear, all necessary hardware was included, and once it was all brought online, it just worked. I'm running 100A out of my main panel to the inverter, 1 solar input (8 panels in series, for now), and the battery, with a 100A line back out to a sub-panel with all the main home circuits. Flipping the main breaker just barely flickers the lights now, and not even that when the grid comes back on. Some notes: Use the included x-bracket when installing the units together - the holes in the inverter & conduit box won't line up well otherwise. Times are all set using 24-hour notation; seems obvious but it's not mentioned anywhere. When setting time windows, the inverter needs to "cross over" the set time to change modes. It doesn't auto-check the state it "should be" in. Setting up the wireless dongle was painful since the instructions were terrible. Check online for better ones. The CTs have an arrow that the instructions say "to Inverter"... they're backwards. You can swap it via a config setting, but the instructions are wrong. I did sign up for the "commissioning appointment" but never got a callback. Turns out I didn't need it, but not a good sign if/when I do need support. Note that I'm not feeding anything back to the grid yet; panel ratings need to be higher than 100A if you do that. It's only been a little while fully active, so we'll see how it all works longer-term, but for now, I'm completely impressed.
