Tigo TS4-A-O | Optimization, Monitoring & Rapid Shutdown | 20A

Tigo TAP is required for rapid shutdown and Tigo CCA is required for monitoring with TS4-A-O.

Optimization is a Flex MLPE function available as an integrated modular junction box base (TS4-O) or as an add-on unit (TS4-A-O). Design using unequal string lengths, mixed orientations, or areas of mismatch. Install in shaded areas with a reduced setback ratio. In addition to optimization, the TS4-A-O enables module-level monitoring, and rapid shutdown in compliance with NEC 2014, 2017, and 2020.

Shade Blocking - Solved!

I bought these because seasonal changes in how my array is shaded had caused four of my Hyperion panels to be shaded along the long dimension for about half of my best solar hours. Even though the shade was only about 7” wide, but the full length of the panel set, I was losing output from a 10 panel string. AFTER installing four TS4-A-O Optimizers the remaining 6 panels on the string produce great despite shade on the other 4, and my average production went up a bit over 5 kWhours per day from that string. I chose to not buy all the other gear for monitoring etc at this time. These work straight out of the box to optimize, and worked like a charm for my situation. Would definitely buy again.

Tigo TS4-A-O are great!

I now have a total of 32 of the rapid shutdown optimizers. I am in the process of redoing my whole solar system and purchased 13 more. They work very well in areas where you have shading. I live in a residential area with trees all around. This has been the key to being able to run my house off grid. I have sold the old panels and have purchased 32 new 405 W panels. I also recently purchased an EG4 12,000XP. This has the electronics for running the small Tigo transmitters. I do have the separate unit also. These are not inexpensive, but are needed to use on solar panels in a residential setting if you don’t want to use micro inverters. These make Solar Panels safe on your roof if there is a fire. They can be shut down immediately with the rapid shutdown feature. I am sold.
