6 Months, EXCELLENT

I self-installed this inverter as part of a complete system, including 16kW (40 @ 400W modules), EG4 Wallmount Indoor Battery, Honeywell propane generator, and the 18kPV inverter. Tech support from Signature Solar has been amazing: TIP Call SigSolar, not EG4!. System configurations are a bit complex but as a result are super flexible/customizable. I had basic functions working very quickly, and I am now working on optimizing system operation by season and weather conditions. Features that I love: Dry /relay contact generator control (simple $20 kit from Generac to convert the generator to this type of control); the ability to utilize up to 18kPV input and route 5k as priority to battery charging while on peak days ALSO using or exporting up to 12kW of power through the inverter as AC power; The remote monitoring through EG4 website and the phone app; Ability to change settings and operating mode from remote; Flexible programming for working mode like backup mode, PV Charge Priority, peak shaving, self consumption, weather optimization, and more. Sales support up front and tech support after - both top notch. Totally recommend this product based on first 6 months !

My inverter issue

Just finished installation. Overall well designed have not had a chance to run it through a thorough load test. 3 issues I had 1)Knockouts do not seem to be standard sizes. May be metric? 2) I was expecting to be able to use some of the dry contacts for a load shed circuit. System does not incorporate any such system. I fear my battery may be dead before I figure out. I wanted to shed power at night when sun wasn’t shining. Most quality Generators come standard with a system to allow load shedding without needing a subpanel. 3) if using AC coupling you’re unable to use a generator for auxiliary power if needed. They have Excellent phone support.

First Hybrid Inverter

This in my first Hybrid Inverter with so many features built in off the bat. Nice all in one design. Even rated for outside install. Just have it somewhat covered from the rain and like anything electronic keep it out of the South Shinning Sun. Although mine is installed inside a workshop since we went with the rack mounted batteries. Having it sealed is a plus to keep dirt and dust out. Nice display to get reading what is going on and can also change settings if needed. Most other Inverters this display is an extra purchase item.

Best Inverter on the market

The 18kpv is the best inverter on the market. We're using it for an off grid system but it is just a proficient for grid tied systems. Easy to configure and set up.

Amazing Inverter

I purchased the EG4 18kpv, 6 LifePower4 Batteries (30 kwh), 10 solar panels, and the Chargeverter for my neighborhood home in Texas. Nearly every year our electricity drops due to hurricanes, sometimes lasting for multiple days. I looked into getting a whole home generator, but the quote was around $18,000 installed. They also require a monthly auto test, a yearly oil change, and it's an engine sitting outside 100% of the time. I had an electrician install a whole house main fuse so that I could switch it off and all the power going into my breaker box would be off. It took my father and myself about 12 hours total to install everything (over a few days). I am now on a free nights electricity plan and charge my batteries at night. The 18kpv automatically swaps over to batteries running the house at 6 am and runs the entire house as normal and switches back to the electricity grid at 8 pm. My electricity bill had cost up to $380/mo during the summer, and it has now dropped to about $12 - $20/mo. I purchased a tri-fuel 6000 watt generator where I can hook up a quick connect with a hose to my natural gas line if the power is going to be out longer than the batteries can handle. A NEMA plug connects to the Chargeverter which charges my batteries directly. This allows me to have electricity for the house just like a whole house generator would have, with about the same cost, but I'm saving money every month on electricity. I have quite a few electronic equipment (projectors, surround sound systems, etc...) that can break with bad power from a generator, but because my generator just goes directly to the batteries, I am always getting good clean power. EG4 has amazing equipment and great customer service.
