It connects to your computer via USB where you can add firmware files, and once it has been removed from your PC it connects to the battery using two different communication protocols: RS-485 and RS-232. This device turns what could be a complex technical process into something as straightforward as clicking a button. When battery manufacturers like EG4 release new firmware (the software that controls how the battery operates), this adapter lets you apply those updates easily.
